Hmmm, Ice Cream

Driving through Glen Rose, Tx yesterday, I spotted this little Italian beauty parked on the square across from the soda shop. We see a lot of these exotics driving through the Hill Country and can image how nice it is to be taking the curves in one of these. Getting in and out of these cars is another issue.

Driving past the Flat Top Ranch near Glen Rose, TX last night, we spotted a pond full of mature Elk bulls cooling off. I suspect that their species is not used to 90+ degree days and lure of a cool pond (in Texas we call them Tanks) is not to be passed up. The Flat Top Ranch is 20,000 acres of cattle and Elk and I seem to come across a photo opportunity every time I come by. I learned my lesson last year when photographing Elk grazing just across the fence because after I waded into high brush on the fence line to get a better shot only to find my legs covered with chiggers!

This is a photo that I have re-working many times in the past. This stallion whose name is Hollywood White is a horse that I have owned for the past 20 years. In this particular situation he was turned loose in the pasture and the photo was taken from about 200 feet away with a 200 mm lens. I had to crop it down significantly in order to get the look that I wanted and then converted it to black and white.
This is a drone video I did for Jim Brosche, a Texas realtor who specializes in upscale ranches and land. Last week, we went out to the Cotten Ranch in Morgan Mill, Tx to prepare a video for his new listing. In order to get a different perspective, we drove up to the top of the mountain and while doing so, I spotted a Bald Eagle circling overhead, but thankfully he had flown off by the time I had launched my drone (P4P). Bad Eagles have been known to attack drones.

This is a drone shot of a storm from my drone at 300′ of Cedar Hill which is 35 miles away from where I was. This was a very ominous looking downburst but I never heard of serious weather related damage from this area. I try and keep my drone ready to fly at all times just in case I come across a scene like this.

Old building outside of Hico, TX, USA

So here we were last night we were at the Greenwood Saloon in Bluff Dale, TX for our friend’s retirement party from the Fort Worth Fire Department when my lady friend spotted this ‘old cowboy” leaning against the wall with a beer in his hand. This guy is right our of central casting for a Lonesome Dove character so she took some discreet photos of him and then went over to talk to him only to find out he is a Chiropractor from nearby! I introduced myself and found that he is from the area and just happened to have an old hat he wore out. Just goes to show that you never know until you introduce yourself. Full disclosure here, I took her photo and massaged it a bit.

A friend of mines owns this building and the boutique that was there is closing due to the retirement of the proprietor. So the other day, we went in to measure the square footage and I spotted this group of items being moved out and thought there was an art photo there somewhere. Thoughts?

We went to a clothing sale today which was held in the parking lot of the old Gypsy Wagon and once I saw the colors, could not help but to get the camera out and start shooting.
